青木刃物製作所の「銀河」シリーズは、愛知製鋼が開発した最新合金ZA-18ステンレス鋼を芯材に採用し、69層ダマスカスによる見事な鏡面仕上げのクラッドで覆われています。
炭素1.2%、クロム18%に加えコバルト1.8%を含有するZA-18ステンレス鋼は、一般的な硬度HRC 61〜63において高い切れ味と優れたエッジ保持力を発揮し、曲げや破損に対する強度にも優れています。
